In the heart of Santa Clara, two blocks from Parque Vidal, is HOSTAL COLIBRI AZUL, a quintessential colonial structure dating from 1921, which—after a year of pains-taking restoration—has returned to its original splendor, offering guests a welcoming and contemporary ambience that maintains all the charm of a Cuban country home. The ample, double living room is characterized by original 1920’s mosaic-tile floors and tall columns, which support the high, wood-beamed ceiling designed to maintain cool even during hot Cuban summers. Furnished with antiques side-by-side with the artwork of young Santa Clara artists, it leads onto the central courtyard, a delightful and discreet garden in the center of the city, lush with plants and tropical flowers, and home to a charming couple of zunzun (a native species of hummingbird), who flit from flower to flower in search of nectar. In the peace of the garden our guests can enjoy delicious breakfasts and romantic dinners, or simply relax with exquisite rums, cigars and herbal infusions. Each guest room opens onto this luxurious garden and provides every comfort necessary (private bathroom, central air conditioning, minibar, pure cotton luxury linens made in Italy) to pamper our guests in total relaxation after a day of sightseeing. We can accomodate small appliances of 110 and 220 volts. Hairdryer and iron are available upon request.
